Data Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

FREE NOW is building up a Data team that is solving key problems relating to urban transportation. Therefore, we are keen on hiring a Data Platform Engineer to support, improve and optimize our data infrastructure with focus on the high-availability, resilience and security to provide reliable data delivery and long-term data storage.

The team will focus on the making the data available to tackle core challenges in mobility markets including machine learning, demand prediction, surge pricing and other predictive analysis.

Your role:

• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies
• Automate the infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as a Code approach
• Ensure stable and consistent data delivery for business critical data-driven application features
• Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries and AWS regions

Your profile:

You are a problem solver, detail-oriented and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment, combining technical, product, business and leadership perspectives. Further key aspects of your profile are:

• Your are a team player
• You have programming experience in either Scala, Python or Java
• You know how to keep all the parts of the Hadoop Ecosystem up and running, how to autoscale the platform to keep it responsive during the peak load
• Monitor & manage all aspects of system security, performance, storage, incidents, usage, backup and recovery for databases, applications, and infrastructure on AWS
• You are keen to work closely with Docker, Packer, Terraform and Kubernetes
• Use your coding skills across a number of languages (Python and/or Scala) and develop appropriate instrumentation to collect metrics on system performance, cost, data ingress/egress /storage processes
• Practical knowledge of various user management techniques inside the multi tenant platform is a plus and close collaboration with information security and compliance teams in governing access policies and procedures
• Perform technology evaluations and testing of the new tools which will be adopted by the data team
• Hands-on experience with AWS/GCP/Azure is required
• You previously worked with mature CI/CD pipeline and made several production deployments during the day
• Fluent Proficiency in Business English
