Navigating the world of mobility requires vision, innovation and a team that's as dynamic as the industry itself. To kick off 2025, we sat down with Berkay Guzey, FREENOW’s Growth Marketing Team Lead, to uncover the driving forces behind his role and his experience at FREENOW.  Join us as we explore his journey from chemical engineering to leading growth marketing initiatives across Europe.


Hi Berkay! Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. First we'd like to get to know you better! What is a unique or surprising fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

I originally studied chemical engineering, but during my internships, I realized the engineering work environment wasn’t the right fit for me. That’s when I pivoted to marketing and discovered my passion. Now, I have built an extensive career in marketing, and it’s always a fun surprise for people to learn about my engineering background.

That's fascinating! Now, let's delve into your FREENOW journey. Could you walk us through your professional background leading up to FREENOW and then tell us about your role and responsibilities here?

I spent eight years at 3M in Turkey, where I held various roles such as Product Marketing Manager, Channel and Segment Marketing Manager, and Integrated Marketing Programs Leader. Over time, my responsibilities grew from a local focus on Turkey to covering European markets. In my last role at 3M, I led integrated marketing programs across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

I joined FREENOW in April 2021 as the Lead Generation Manager for FREENOW for Business. Since then, I’ve grown into the Head of Growth Marketing role, leading our Growth Marketing team. Together, we focus on customer acquisition, onboarding, and retention to drive business success across Europe.

Your background is certainly inspiring. What are some of the most exciting aspects and unique challenges you face in your current role at FREENOW, particularly in such a rapidly changing landscape?

The fast-paced and ever-evolving nature of marketing is both a challenge and an exciting aspect of my role. Strategies that worked a few years ago may not be effective today, which means staying on top of changing consumer expectations, industry trends, and emerging technologies is essential.

I find it exciting to be at the forefront of transforming business travel—whether it’s simplifying payment processes or integrating sustainable practices. I also enjoy crafting fun and engaging campaigns that bring creativity to traditionally dry B2B topics. Collaborating with diverse teams—from creative marketers to technical developers—makes every project dynamic and rewarding.

What truly makes working at FREENOW stand out for you?
